INTERFAITH WITNESSES wish to extend our sincere condolences to the Sikh community for the loss of seven precious lives in Wisconsin. We know that Sikhs across the nation have been victimized repeatedly, especially since September 11, 2001. We stand in support of the rights of Sikhs and all people to worship freely without fear of violence or harassment.

Until every person of every faith in our country can worship in complete safety and peace, we will have failed one of the most basic founding principles of this country.

It is our hope that all people of conscience will reach out to our Sikh sisters and brothers and provide any assistance they may need in the coming days. Interfaith Witnesses will be present at interfaith vigils in solidarity with Sikhs as well as all victims of hate violence.

INTERFAITH WITNESSES is comprised of clergy and laity of various faiths who stand in silent witness wherever people are being harassed because of their faith. We are often seen outside events hosted by faith groups where we provide a visible but silent welcome and greeting to attendees who may be fearful of members of hate groups who are present. All are welcome to join us; simple Ground Rules will be provided. For further information, contact Vicki Tamoush at (714) 362-7676 or VTamoush@gmail.com.

On Saturday, July 14, the OCPC set up a table at the Orange County
Fair in the “Free Expression” zone just outside the main gate. Our
display included our new banner, a 3’x5′ painting showing the damage
drones can do, a poster of Uncle Sam riding a drone, a model of the
Grim Reaper flying an armed drone firing one of its missiles, and a
number of handouts including information on drones.

At our meeting, we decided to expand our presence at the Fair to
include this coming Wednesday, July 18 and the remaining four
Saturdays, July 21, 28, August 4 and 11.

To do this we need volunteers to staff the table, at least two at a
time, from just before opening time (for setup) until 11-12pm (near or
at closing time, including take-down). Staffing shifts are two hours,
but you can volunteer for more.

Come on down and help us make our presence occur. To volunteer for
staffing the table, please contact Pat Alviso mfsooc@earthlink for
Wednesday, July 20 ONLY, or Kurt Aanensen kurtea@yahoo for Saturdays.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Subject: news stories on our Teen memorial

First off we would like to thank all the folks who came out and helped out Sunday and supported the teen memorial. If it wasn’t for Richard Madeira and Jack Finley the idea of a teen memorial would not have happened. They deserve a lot of credit for their vigilance in making this memorial a reality and in time for Memorial Day. It was a lot of work, but we think it was worth it. Every group pitched in and it paid off! Our message was heard.

Great coverage from the local Press Telegram on the front page.

Fox 11 news also had coverage on the link below. They were there all day and into the evening and we were surprised at how it all came out.
