Please join us in a powerful demonstration to show the public what war really looks like. This is a very simple demonstration to help remind the public that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are killing so many. We need you to help make this event one that cannot be avoided by the many people who will be blithely walking along by the pier and beach with war being the last thing on their mind. Below are the details. Please distribute this to all your contacts.

Every day we lose more of our loved ones and countless innocent civilians in wars that should never have happened in the first place.  The general public is complacent, so:

We just got word that we were able to book Ethan McCord of the famous Wikileaks tape in which he described what he witnessed as a veteran during a helicopter attack that killed civilians. He is part of the “We are Not Your Soldiers” tour, but he can only come in the afternoon on Thursday June 9th and all day on Friday. What an opportunity for students to hear this story! If you know of a high school that would like to have him speak ( an assembly is best, but he will speak to a few classes if that is the best we can get). Because we only have a few weeks, we will book the first schools with the largest audience. Please spread the word and let me know right away if you can connect me with a school who wants to have him. My number is below. For more information about the tour, here is the link: Thank you! paz

Dear OC Code Pink Activists and Supporters,

From the bosom of a devastated Earth a voice goes up with our own. It says: Disarm! Disarm! The original meaning of the very first Mother’s Day in 1870 was pro-peace.

And so we will be holding our 6th annual “Mother’s Day for Peace” vigil at the Orange Circle on Sunday May 8th from 1-3pm.  I am attaching the Mother’s Day flyer 2011.  Our vigil will be held in solidarity with many other Mother’s Day actions for peace.

Please plan to join us!  And please feel free to share this information with others who are striving for peace.

“We, the women of one country,
Will be too tender of those of another country
To allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs.”

~ Julia Ward Howe, Mother’s Day Proclamation, 1870

In peace,

Kathy (Code Pink OC)

“It is not enough to win a war; it is more important to organize the peace”.  ~ Aristotle
