Protest to support the Irvine 11 at OC Superior Court on May 26

WHAT: Members and supporters of the Orange County Peace Coalition will be
wearing gags tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. in front of the Orange County Superior
Court to show their support for the Irvine 11 who are appearing before a
judge at 9:00 a.m. Justice wears a blindfold and holds a scale to symbolize
that race, religious creed and political affiliation shall not influence or
color the judicial process. UCI Administrators have failed to grant
student's their Constitutional rights to free speech. Freedom of speech, protest
and assembly are a fiction when the cost of exercising these fundamental
rights is expulsion and the derailing of an education leading to a career as a
 productive member of society.

The Orange County Peace Coalition invites readers to join them tomorrow
morning in defense of the rights of free speech and protest and the ideal
that all universities must remain a bastion of the free exchange of ideas.

WHO: Orange County Peace Coalition

WHEN: Thursday, May 26, 2011, 8:00 AM - 10 AM

WHERE: Orange County Superior Court, 700 W. Civic Center Dr., Santa Ana, CA

One week away: Get involved!

March 19 International Day of Action

STOP THE WARS, FUND PEOPLE’S NEEDS

The people of the world are in motion. A revolutionary wave is sweeping the Arab world and hundreds of thousands of working people and students are marching for union rights in Wisconsin and Ohio. Students are taking action to stop budget cuts and tuition hikes on campuses throughout the country. These heroic examples show that the people have the power to make change. They show that protesting in the streets matters. On that day, join veterans, students, union members anti-war activists and thousands of others in Los Angeles to demand money for jobs and education, not war and occupation. March 19 is the 8th anniversary of the invasion and occupation of Iraq. Iraq today remains occupied. The war in Afghanistan is raging. The U.S. is invading and bombing Pakistan. The U.S. is financing endless atrocities against the people of Palestine, backing U.S. clients in the Middle East while they brutalize the people, relentlessly threatening Iran and bringing Korea to the brink of a new war.

While the U.S. government will spend $1 trillion for war, occupation and weapons in 2011, 30 million people in the United States remain unemployed or severely underemployed, and cuts in education, housing and healthcare are imposing a huge toll on the people in California and across the country. Saturday, March 19, the anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, will be a national day of action against the war machine.

  • End Occupation: Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine & Everywhere!
  • Fund Jobs, Healthcare & Education, Not Militarism!
  • Stop Budget Cuts, Tuition Hikes & Attacks on Working Families!
  • From Egypt to Wisconsin to Los Angeles: The People Have the Power!
